Friday night, Jen (who's up visiting from San Francisco),
attam, & I went out for dinner at La Medusa in Columbia City. I'd been meaning to go for years, curious about the restaurant's reputed "Sicilian Soul Food" menu. We were not disappointed: we all ordered "Nonna's Verdes" (Grandma's Greens) as an appetizer: a mess of collard greens in garlic and butter. For the main course, I followed the recommendation of a half-dozen restaurant reviewers and had Spaghetti con le Sarde: spaghetti tossed with sardines, pine nuts, olives and raisins, topped with a mound of fennel. (Jen thought that this was a little too "fishy," but it worked for me ...) Can't remember the names of what Jen and
attam had, but I sampled each and both were great. So I strongly recommend La Medusa, for anyone in or visiting the Seattle area.
