No Longer Nameless Furball
Nov. 3rd, 2007 03:28 pmI just want to say "thanks" to everyone who participated in my recent Name That Kitten poll. A plurality suggested calling her "Esme", a name which appealed to me because it was both simple and unusual.
After several days of trying, though, I have to admit that the name just doesn't suit her. Instead, I've come to the conclusion that this one's an "Izzy":

"Izzy" just seems to better match her wild hair, frenetic energy, and overall air of juvenile delinquency*.
Also, it's easier to pronounce ...
*That last photo, where Izzy looks so determined? She's clawing her way up my pantleg. Which is all well and cute, now, since she still weighs almost nothing, and since her claws are still too short to cut through my jeans. However ...

Date: 2007-11-04 12:29 pm (UTC)I have such a weakness, even if they are all just a bit psycho. You have good nail trimmers, right? ;)

Date: 2007-11-04 08:14 pm (UTC)I have decent nail trimmers, but I tend to be a bit of a wimp about actually using them. Y'know, the cats seem to hate it, and I hate their hating it. Maybe this is something I can work on with little miss Blank Slate.

Date: 2007-11-04 08:35 pm (UTC)I always keep her nail trimmers by the side of my bed, so when a good calm moment happens where she is lounging on my lap I can try to trim them. First I put them near us on the bed where she can see them, making sure she's not nervous about it, and then slowly I take them in my hand, and take one of her paws in the other, and I just talk very calmly about how it's not a big deal. I take my time, I go very slowly, I talk like hypnotist and keep her calm and happy until I am done, or I give up quickly so I don't get hurt :D It's fine with me if I can only do a nail or two a day as long as I get them done at some point. She is one sharp kitty! Being too goal oriented to getting it done in the first pass is dangerous! ;) These days though she's so used to it she barely seems to notice it's happening if I make sure to pick my moments carefully.
