  1. I know you've told me this before, but I forgot, who's your cat named after?  Puig (for added confusion, pronounced "Puj") is named after the late Argentine writer Manuel Puig, author of Kiss of the Spider Woman.  Why him?  Well, for one thing, I think that the sound "Puj" suits his pug nose & those huge saucery eyes.  And, of course, there's the fact that "Puig" is one of those "Spanish" names that's actually not "Spanish" (Castillian), but Catalan--which, in addition to providing a pun that I may or may not have intended, explains the strange (very un-Spanish) pronunciation.
  2. Where would you most like to be right now?  Well, speaking of Cataluña, I'd love to be in Barcelona.  I've always heard that it's a fantastic city, full of beautiful architecture & a really exciting cultural life.  I'd settle for San Francisco or Santa Cruz, though.
  3. WHEN would you most like to be?  Hmmmm.  I love history, and there are all kinds of eras when it would have been interesting to be alive: it'd be cool to look in on cultural flowerings like 5th-century Greece, Medieval Spain, or Elizabethan England. But I wouldn't want to get stranded there.  On the whole, I have the strong sense that I wouldn't be awfully comfortable much of anywhen before about 1970.
  4. If you could change the world, would you make it bigger or smaller?  Assuming we could retool humans & everything else to survive the added gravity, I think it'd be cool to have a MUCH bigger world, especially if it meant there'd be more open, unexplored, or underpopulated places--for example, places you could go at risk to your own life, but no one could affordably inhabit: Wouldn't it be cool if we had our own Olympus Mons, a megamountain sticking up out of the atmosphere, a Valles Marineris deeper than the Atlantic trench? (Seems unfair somehow that our relatively smaller neighbor, Mars, is the planet that gets to have both these extreme locales ...)
  5. Love, Money, Crime, or Politics?  Oh, love, obviously.  John Dillinger I'm definitely not, raking in tons of cash has never seemed like a realistic possibility, & politics (for better, mostly for worse) will still be there in the morning, so to speak ....
