Now that I'm out of debt, I decided to pony up the dinero to finally get my poor battered, old Mac G3 fixed, earlier this week. The OS had become corrupted, sometime last year--at about the same time as other costly disasters (losing my old job, my ride, etc). I couldn't afford to get it looked at at the time, so I've spent the ensuing months panhandling for bandwidth during free moments at the office and the Seattle Public Library.
By the time that I was solvent again, I doubted that the G3 would even prove salvageable. But I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from the repair people yesterday telling me that it was back from the dead. And now here it is linking my desk to the universe, again. I feel like I've been let back into the 21st century.
In celebration, I've even downloaded a client (JournalAlert--the only one that would work with my ancient OS), which I'm using to type this very message.
OK, online access is all very well, but it's October in Seattle and the sun's out, so I'll have to continue this experiment later ...
