saavedra77: Back to the byte mines ... (hotdamn!)

I woke up to a nice surprise, yesterday: a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] hippybngstockng informing me that--after a couple years' absence--she was back in town. We met for lunch with a couple of mutual friends, and then proceeded to spend the afternoon darting from store to store on Broadway in the rain, catching up. Hippy looks good, seems very up--and she totally improved my spirits (especially after Friday ...).

Hope I didn't spoil the surprise too much for you, there, Sarra!

Thanks for last night, by the way! It was great to see you guys.

WHAT!? Really!?

(Unoriginal, but sincere.)

Yeah, she was here for Ravenloft--ever heard of that? It's a big role-plyaing thing she & a number of mutual acquaintainces do--I think, every year. (I'm sure she'll be writing about it.) I'm just glad that I managed to snap up an afternoon of her time--I needed the cheering up, after Friday.

Suddenly there's tons of Hampshire posts/comments in LJ. I've heard of Ravensloft. I think I played once, maybe 20 years ago, but not at Hampshire.

I needed the cheering up too, dammit.

Considered moving to Seattle? At least then you'd be close to our local Hampshire alumn network. (Conveniently providing hippybngstockng one-stop-shopping when she's feeling nostalgic ...)

Yeah, but you know... Seattle.

It's not like I hang out with the alumn community in Portland. Inertia is terribly powerful. I do like Portland, it's just kind of a shame people don't come to visit anymore.

Sorry, dude. I've never been down there. Got a couch I can crash on if I do? :)

I have a futon that various Friends have slept over on. It's couch-ish. Sadly, one had to use the cot, since the futon was too cat-infested.

Well, I'll bear that in mind ... :)
