saavedra77: Back to the byte mines ... (ideas)

Last week, I submitted a version of my résumé to a political consulting firm that does grassroots organizing. Naturally, I stressed the political organizing work that I did back in the '90s, as well as some of the election-related volunteer work I've done since moving to Seattle. But I didn't really expect to hear back from them. I mean, the last time that I was really heavily involved in politics was a decade ago, in Massachusetts. And my most recent electoral volunteer experience was in 2004.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from them, yesterday, which led to an hourlong phone interview, earlier today. This isn't the first interview I've had during the past few weeks, but it was the first that I've been really excited about--which of course greatly contributed to my energy and enthusiasm, during the conversation. They asked me about my work on initiative and Town Meeting campaigns in Massachusetts in the 1990s, and the canvassing I did in 2004. I also tried to talk up my more recent project management experience in clinical research, although they didn't seem terribly interested in that. On the whole, though, I thought that the interview went well--I mean, it must have, since they asked me to come in for another one, tomorrow. :)

(If nothing else, I'll have plenty of opportunities to sharpen my interviewing skills, this week ...)
