Thanksgiving, 2006

This year's Thanksgiving involved deep-fried turkey at a party in Issaquah, in the company of my friends Jen and the other Jen; a couple of guys (including the first Jen's boyfriend) whose names I am, alas, forgetting; and the lovely
jmargethe.
Despite copious warnings that deep-frying would mean that we risked starring in a Jerry Bruckheimer film, we managed to boil that sucker in oil sans explosions or structure fire. And, yeah, if you have the equipment and follow the directions, the deep-fried bird really is better: cooked evenly throughout, just the right balance of crispy and moist.
Then we settled down to watch the end of Friends with Money (a somewhat ironic choice, given the mix of incomes present), and then all of My Man Godfrey (again, with the income disparity ...) and Mr. and Mrs. Smith, a campy little number that I had (as I suspect most of you reading this have) seen before. (Speaking of Bradjolina and wealth, Hollywood's uber-couple seem to be having a "Holiday in Cambodia" and Vietnam, this season ...)
Dessert--mainly consisting of different kinds of pie--came out during the second film.
Alas, then it was time to brave the (relatively) cold night and head back to Seattle. Pity: it'd been a lovely evening.
