Climb for a Cure Results
Dec. 10th, 2006 02:03 pmI am happy to report that Thursday's Climb for a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis appears to have raised in the neighborhood of $124,000, representing a respectable gain on last year's $95,000.
My company's fundraising team (and our friends and familes) accounted for a very, very modest part of that total, but I must express my thanks to everyone who contributed whether in our team's name or to the event, generally. And if you didn't have the chance in the holiday rush, there is still time--just follow the above link! A gift of any amount would of course be appreciated. :)
The race itself was naturally secondary to the fundraising, but I am also pleased to report that our three-person relay team placed 11th among 25 teams in the Stair Climb, covering the whole 56 floors of the Washington Mutual Tower in just under ten minutes.
I was the third runner, so I got to experience that finish-line rush. The experience also left my lungs burning and my knees buckling. But the complimentary massage at the after-party took care of all the aches and pains, and in fact left me kind of hyper, again. (Also, I spent the rest of the evening ravenously hungry ...)
In sum, I'm immensely glad that I got involved in this event, and the only things I want to do differently next year are raise more money and run faster ...
