saavedra77: Back to the byte mines ... (ozzy donuts)

There I was, minding my own business, reading a novel, listening to music, when I hear something go bonk in the kitchen. I figured that it was Ozzy with one of his cat toys. But then my mighty predator comes prancing into the room, looking immensely pleased with himself, a 2.25 ounce Styrofoam, plastic and cardboard Cup O' Noodles clasped in his jaws. I had to chase the little bastard to get it back, too.

And now it occurs to me that I'm going to have to start locking the cupboards ...

hee! The mighty hunter brings you food!

At least you didn't find the tooth and claw holes after filling the Styrofoam with water.

We had to put a lock on our kitchen trash bin - which became two locks - after our bad black cat started rooting through the trash for good bits and dragging the rest out onto the carpets. We tried a magnet push latch, but he learned that trick. We added a latch bar - I don't know what they're called, but the sort of things that bathroom stalls used to have, a bar that goes across and turns? And we had the sense to put it up at a height he couldn't reach easily, although he was working on it via gymnastics and trial-and-error.

And yet the last cat I lived with never successfully figured out how to open a door that was partly closed but not latched, and opened outward. Any sensible cat would've just shoved the door out and thus farther open; he would pull the door towards him, kicking and dragging himself across the carpet and pushing his head into the gap his own actions were closing, until he'd kicked and yanked himself forwards through the gap.
