Flamenco Tuesdays

saavedra77I've been on one of my periodic flamenco kicks, lately. I've been listening to a lot of Ojos de Brujo, the Gipsy Kings, like that.
Flamenco is best live, though, and there are at least a couple of decent flamenco acts who perform around Seattle, regularly--one of them in fact does a couple sets every Tuesday night at the Capitol Club, around the corner from my house. So I strolled over there last night to watch and listen to Children of the Revolution's Eric and Encarna do their whole passion and heartbreak thing. As Seattle-area Flamenco performers go, I'm a bigger fan of Ana Montes and Carmona Flamenco, but Eric and Encarna do a lively set. Plus, their shows are frequent, convenient, and the Capitol Club charges no cover. I should make a point of going more often.
Also, in a tangentially related point: I've discovered that Ozzy, in addition to being fascinated by television, string, feathers, things he can tear up, and whatever I'm eating, digs flamenco mucho. It must be the rapid-fire percussion or something, but it sends him scampering all over the house, jumping on things, looking like a maniac. That's my boy.
