Blame it on [livejournal.com profile] drglam:

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/Video: 271.

2) The last film I bought:-Richard Linklater's Waking Life (my nephew Eric's recommendation--endlessly fascinating)

3) The last film I watched from start to finish: -Mystery Science Theater: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

4) Ten films I watch a lot, or that mean a lot to me:

  • Eat Drink Man Woman
  • Blue Sky
  • The Opposite of Sex
  • The Chimes at Midnight
  • Time of the Gypsies
  • Robin and Marian
  • Miller's Crossing
  • Fight Club
  • Waking Life
  • The Crying Game
(Believe me, I could go on ... the meme only actually only asked for five ...)

5) Five people I'm passing the baton to ... (just 'cuz)

Looks like I checked my mail too late to catch you while still inebriated ... Hey! Maybe we should have an over-the-phone drinking game, sometime! Wouldn't that be just ... smashing, as the Brits say? If we stopped after I got drunk, it wouldn't even have to be such a long phone call ... ;)

Dude, in order to count my movies, I have to *unpack* my movies. Yikes.

Okay, I'll try to take that baton soon. :)

Boy, glad you didn't pick me, then I'd have to count them all. I think the only two of that list I've even seen more than once are The Crying Game and Fight Club. Although I did rush out to buy the DVD of Waking Life when it came out and have meant on several occasions to watch it. And four of those I haven't even seen, or even heard of. Hmm.

Hey, feel free, if you get around to doing an inventory, sometime ...

I've been meaning to post about my favorite scenes in Waking Life (when I get around to it, I'll protect any spoilers behind an LJ-Cut). It's just a fascinating movie, though--not the kind of thing I would have expected my (GQ-boy-who-wants-to-be-a-fed-when-he-grows-up) nephew to recommend, at all ... :)

Ooo, Miller's Crossing! I haven't seen that movie in years. It was one of my faves when I was a kid. I'll have to get pick it up again...

Favorite snippets of dialogue:

"You saved my life, but, well ..."
"But what have I done for you lately, right?"

And:

"The old man was always an artist with a Thompson gun."
